Pakistan established a 296-run first-innings lead over Bangladesh, with left-arm spinner Taijul Islam restricting the damage and taking 6-163 to help bowl out the visitors for 628 on Friday, shortly before lunch on day four of the first test.
Resuming the day 537-5, Pakistan added 91 runs in the morning session, and will be aiming to bowl out Bangladesh for a second time over the last five sessions of the match.
Mohammad Hafeez was the top scorer with 224. Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq made 83 each while Sarfraz Ahmed scored 82. Misbah-ul-Haque contributed 59.
Taijul claimed his third five-wicket haul in just his sixth test, while off-spinner Shuvagata Hom had figures of 2-120.
