Kale, Naik win unopposed

Newcomers to cricket administration, Amol Kale and Sanjay Naik, have been elected unopposed as vice-president and secretary of the Mumbai Cricket Association. Their opponents withdrew from the contest on Thursday. Dr. Vijay Patil has been elected president, unopposed.

The MCA election to fill in posts for joint secretary will see a contest between Sangam Lad and Shaikh Shahalam and for the treasurer’s post between Jagdish Achrekar and Mayank Khandwala.

There are 27 candidates for nine councillor posts. The MCA has chosen a 17 member Apex Council, that includes a male and female cricketer to be nominated by the Indian Cricketers Association and a representative of the AG’s office. The election will be held on Friday, October 4.
