We just need to get better: Lehmann

April 15, 2013 11:21 pm | Updated 11:21 pm IST - MOHALI:

Darren Lehmann has his hands full. The newly-appointed coach of the Kings XI Punjab is worried about too many things that have led to the team coming a cropper in back to back matches in the IPL.

Speaking to newspersons on the eve of KXIP’s clash against defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders here on Monday, Lehmann admitted the team was not sticking to the game plan and the batsmen proving a big let down in the two defeats.

“The batters know that they have let us down. We are just not sticking to the game plan that we set out before we play.

“We are playing good in patches, probably better with the ball and in the field. We just have to get better,” said Lehmann. He said there would be changes in the playing eleven on Tuesday.

Looking closely at the problems, he said, “We haven’t had a fifty in the competition. The most disappointing thing is not to bat 20 overs. “We lost 10 wickets twice in less than 20 overs. That’s disappointing. Last night (against Royals), we missed out on seven balls. If we get a boundary and a single every ball, after that, it would have been another 10 runs.”

Asked about KKR, Lehmann said, “KKR are a very good side. They got some good bowling attack so we will have to at our best. Playing well and putting them under pressure early is going to be the key. Importantly, start the game well.” — Special Correspondent
