The Indian Premier League (IPL) player auction for the 2020 edition will take place on Thursday in Kolkata. A total of 332 players will go under the hammer for a maximum of 73 slots only, spread over the eight franchises. As many as 997 players were registered initially before the list was pruned.

The 332 comprises 186 Indian players, 143 overseas players and 3 Associate players. The maximum squad strength is 25 players a side, and the maximum number of overseas players a side is 8. The spending limit for each team is fixed at Rs 85 crore.

Here's a look at how the eight teams stack up, with a recap of players released and traded during the off-season.

The auction begins at 3.30 p.m. IST. It will be conducted by Hugh Edmeads.

Players with the highest base price

Australians dominate the list of the highest base price of Rs 2 crore, with the likes of Chris Lynn, Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, and Josh Hazlewood. Sri Lanka's Angelo Mathews, and exprienced fast bowler Dale Steyn, who was released by RCB, are also on this list.

Those with a base price of Rs 1.5 crore are Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, Robin Uthappa, Chris Morris, Chris Woakes, Adam Zampa, Shaun Marsh, David Willey, Kane Richardson, and Kyle Abbott.

Who are the three Associate players in the auction?

They are USA fast bowler Ali Khan, UAE's Zahoor Khan and Scotland batsman George Munsey. Ali, known for his pace, has played in several T20 leagues, including the Caribbean Premier League. Both Ali and Zahoor were born in Pakistan.
