Gilchrist all praise for his team

May 15, 2011 09:37 pm | Updated August 21, 2016 06:14 pm IST - Dharamsala:

Adam Gilchrist admired his bowlers for pulling off another must-win game against Delhi Daredevils and hoped Kings XI Punjab continues to come up with good all-round efforts in the remainder of its campaign in the Indian Premier League.

‘Not lucky'

Speaking after the team's 29-run victory, the Kings captain chose not to call his team ‘lucky' on this day.

“You either create opportunities or miss them. We made the most of it today and they (Daredevils) didn't.”

Analysing the team's current status in the competiton, Gilchrist said, “We are still in the same situation we were in before this match. We still have to keep winning. At the same time, we will be watch the other games with interest.”

Still hopeful

Asked to comment on the team's realistic chances of reaching the last-four, Gilchrist said, “Anything is possible in this format.”

About the upcoming clash against league leader Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Aussie wicket-keeper admitted that it was indeed the team in form. “We will take whatever possible from the previous game (against RCB).”

When asked what he thought of the in-form RCB opener Chris Gayle, Gilchrist smiled and said, “I think, he is doing okay.”

Chawla happy

Piyush Chawla, the Man of the Match, said he was trying hard to come good but was glad that it all came together on this day.

On his effort coming too late following the announcement of the Indian team for the ensuing tour to West Indies, Chawla said, “I can only do what is in my hands.”

Candid Hopes

Daredevils skipper James Hopes hit the nail of the head with his take on the team's performance on this day. “Today's effort more or less sums up the season for us.”

He said the team was not chasing a big target but still managed to raise the asking rate to in excess of 12 runs an over.

“The fielding was just not good enough. We missed chances and half chances,” he lamented.
