A host of future stars of the sub-continent will be seen in action in the under-19 tri-series involving India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, viewed as a preparation for the World Cup early next year.
The drive to play for the senior team was prominent as the captains and coaches of the three teams introduced the side to the media ahead of the tournament starting at the Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus here on Friday.
The tournament will be played on a double-tier round-robin league with the final scheduled for November 29.
The Indian team, preparing for the tournament under the legendary Rahul Dravid as coach, exuded confidence.
“It is a great experience to train under a great personality like Dravid. His knowledge of cricket and his presence add a lot of value to the learning experience for each player,” said India captain Ricky Bhui.
