D.Y Patil T20 Cup: BPCL defeat State Bank of Travancore

Saurabh Netravalkar and Swapnil Hazare teamed up in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited’s seven-run win over State Bank of Travancore in Group-C league at the Dr. D.Y. Patil All India T20 Cup, organised by D.Y Patil Sports Academy, Nerul. Suryakumar Yadav smashed 50 off 32 balls earlier for the winners, who confirmed quarterfinal qualification.

Mumbai Ranji pace bowler Netravalkar (4/24) and Hazare (3/28) put the brakes on SBT run chase of 167-runs target, ending with 159-9 in 20 overs at the DY Patil stadium. V.A. Jagdish (54), Sony Cheruvathur (28) and Rakesh K.J. (24) kept SBT in the hunt. BPCL was boosted by Yadav’s attacking knock, assisted by 49 from Vinit Indulkar. The event is organised under the auspices of Mumbai Cricket Association.

Canara Bank defeated D.Y. Patil ‘B’ by eight wickets in Group C game. The former scored 186-9, helped by Kumar Subramaniam’s knock worth 74. N.C. Aiyappa (3/17) and I.G. Anil (2/34) grabbed wickets. Canara Bank lost just two wickets getting past the target in 18.5 overs. Rajoo Bhatkal top-scored with 65 and Bharat Chipli (49), Deepak Chaugle (41) chipped in. The winning team will take on Indian Oil to decide the second qualifier from the group on Tuesday.
