What should have been a triumphant homecoming turned into a brawl on Friday when Pakistan’s enigmatic all-rounder Shahid Afridi lost his temper and punched a man at Karachi airport.

Television footage showed Afridi hitting the man, who eventually fell down, before cutting to images of the cricketer being driven away in his car.

A crowd had gathered at the airport to greet Afridi after he was declared man-of-the-match in Pakistan’s thrilling two-run win over Bangladesh in the Asia Cup final on Thursday.

Afridi told Samaa Television that his three-year-old daughter fell to the floor in the crush at the airport, causing him to lose his temper. Afridi’s victim told the station that he didn’t mind being hit by Afridi.
