Superb spells by Rohit, Prabhu; Lakshmi Narayan scalps five

Right-arm medium pacer R. Rohit bowled Young Star into a strong position, his seven-wicket haul bundling out Alwarpet for 109 on day one of their TNCA first division fourth-round match here on Friday. In reply, Young Stars finished the day on 63 for four as rain stopped play early.

At IIT-Chemplast, half-centuries from M. Kaushik Gandhi, M. Shahrukh Khan, Ankit Bawne and S. Suresh Kumar helped Jolly Rovers end the day at a commanding 280 for three against CromBest. At stumps, Bawne and Suresh remained unbeaten for Rovers.

At CPT-IP, off-spinner M. Prabhu helped India Pistons come back into the game with his seven-wicket haul after his side was bowled out for 125 against UFCC (T. Nagar). Pistons bowled out UFCC for 161, conceding a lead of 36.
