Local lad R. Sathish will be sporting the Mumbai Indians jersey in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season III. The all-rounder said that he has signed for the Mukesh Ambani-owned franchise.

An excited Sathish considers the IPL opportunity as the best thing to happen in his career. “I want to make optimum use of the chance. I believe a good performance in the tournament will transform into reality my dream to play for the country,” said the engineering graduate.

“I am in a team captained by batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar. To me, he is the God of cricket and playing with him is dream come true,” added Sathish, who was back in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) fold in June last year after snapping ties with the Indian Cricket League (ICL).

Robin Singh’s presence as the coach of Mumbai Indians team, Sathish said, would make him feel comfortable. An agile fielder, Sathish is keen to sharpen his ability further under Jonty Rhodes, the fielding coach for Mumbai Indians. “Fielding is one aspect that is being given due importance in all formats of the game. I am looking forward to working with Jonty, a fielding legend.”

Sathish is grateful to the Mumbai Indians management for selecting him and says that he would put in his best efforts to live up to the expectations. “I am also thankful to the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association for having selected me in the State team.”
