Mr. Srinivasan group’s C.K. Khanna beat Jyotiraditya Scindia of the Pawar faction 15-14 for the post of the Central Zone vice-president. Here too there was a mysterious blank vote.
Anirudh Chaudhry beat Rajiv Shukla from the Pawar camp 16-13 for the post of Treasurer (including a blank vote.) Some cross voting was indicated.
There was a 15-15 tie in the election for the joint secretary post between the Srinivasan camp’s Amitabh Chaudhary and Chetan Desai. Here, Mr. Yadav’s casting vote clinched it for Mr. Chaudhary.
T.C. Mathew got the better of Ravi Savant 16-14 to become vice-president (West). M.L. Nehru (North), G. Gangaraju (South) and Gautam Roy (East) were elected vice-presidents unopposed. All of them belong to the Srinivasan group.
Mr. Thakur revealed that he had moved a resolution in the morning for Mr. Yadav to be the AGM chairman — a crucial post — so that the proceedings could be smooth. It was accepted.
Mr. Yadav said he had picked the faction led by Simarjitsigh Gaekwad as the legitimate Baroda Cricket Association since he was convinced about its credentials. “There were two factions and it was my decision,” he said.
Also, M.M. Abdi was denied entry to the AGM since the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has been suspended by the BCCI. Mr. Abdi claimed he was RCA’s authorised representative.
