Cook to skipper England against Bangladesh

January 18, 2010 05:08 pm | Updated 05:08 pm IST - LONDON

England captain Andrew Strauss and pace bowler James Anderson are being rested and have not been picked for the team’s two-test tour of Bangladesh.

Alastair Cook will lead the team for Test and one-day matches, while Paul Collingwood will be captain for two Twenty20 internationals in the United Arab Emirates that precede the tour.

Yorkshire pace bowler Ajmal Shahzad replaces Anderson, who needs treatment for a knee problem.

England have otherwise picked a strong side and will give Kevin Pietersen and Jonathan Trott a chance to recover their form.
