‘CAB, KSCA should have gone ahead with elections’

August 03, 2016 12:57 am | Updated 12:57 am IST - MUMBAI:

In the meeting that lasted 35 minutes, BCCI president Anurag Thakur was not pleased with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) which postponed their elections soon after the Supreme Court verdict was announced. A member, who attended the meeting, revealed that Thakur, who joined via video-conferencing, told the CAB and KSCA that they “should have gone ahead” with the elections.

It is understood that CAB president Sourav Ganguly and KSCA secretary Brijesh Patel had replied that they had “sought legal opinion and went by it”.

Soon after the Supreme Court issued an order on July 19 directing the BCCI and the state associations to adopt administrative reforms within six months, the Lodha Committee, appointed to supervise its implementation, had clarified that all elections held between the order and its implementation will become “null and void”.
