Rohan Bopanna and Denis Shapovalov lost 7-6(3), 7-6(7) to Robin Haase and Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands in the doubles semifinals of the $6,338,885 ATP-1000 tennis tournament in Montreal.

Bopanna and Shapovalov collected 360 ATP points and $76,300.

The Dutch duo had defeated the top seeds in the first round and the Bryan twins, Bob and Mike, in the quarterfinals.

Two-time National champion Mahak Jain won her maiden international crown, defeating Sada Nahimana of Burundi 6-1, 6-4 in the final of the $15,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament at Nairobi.

Coached by Sajid Lodi in Indore, the 18-year-old Mahak did not drop a set in the tournament. She lost only 18 games in all in five matches, and not more than five in any match.

Leading a bunch of 10 Indians, Mahak will continue in Nairobi for another tournament.
