Since the post of the Readers' Editor was established 10 years ago to this day at The Hindu , there have been a total of three persons who have occupied the seat of the ombudsman (there was a vaccuum for a period of the three months in 2012 alone, but the work was carried out by the other staff who worked under the RE).
More than 8,200 corrections and clarifications have been published in the span of a decade from the office of the RE, and from the data available we clearly see the number has declined by as much as 30% in this time* :
*This is apart from the corrections carried in the regional pages and the responses sent to readers individually whenever the paper is right.
