Lenovo’s Moto G5 Plus smartphone launches on Flipkart starting Thursday midnight. The ecommerce website showcased the upcoming launch with two variants, priced at Rs.14,999 and Rs.16,999.

The launch comes a couple weeks since Motorola unveiled its fifth-generation Moto G series at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona.

The G5 Plus will come in two colours — Lunar Grey and Fine Gold — and will be the first G series iteration to have an aluminium-finish metal body.

The exclusive deal with Flipkart brings the early-bird consumer some offers — up to Rs.1,500 off on exchange of old smartphones, no-cost EMIs starting at Rs.1,667 per month, and discounts on credit cards of specified banks.

The G5 Plus’s key rivals are the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Honor 6x, both of which are lighter on the wallet. But the nano-coating-water-repellant G5 Plus will be lighter in your hands, at 155g.

The higher-end variant comes with 4GB RAM, 32GB storage expandable to up to 128GB, 5.2-inch Full HD 1,920x1,080p Display with pixel density of 424ppi (smaller than the Redmi), 12MP camera with 5MP front-cam, a 3,000 mAh battery, and a 2.0 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor, dual-SIM and microSD slots.

The lower-end gives you similar specs expect with lower speed and storage — 3GB RAM, 16GB storage expandable to up to 128GB.

The capacitive One Button Navigation, popularised by OnePlus series, lets users swipe to bring up the phone’s interface. If that’s not handy enough, it also comes with Moto Actions, which allow you to activate phone functions using gestures.

The improved camera is purported to lock on to the subject up to 60% faster than before and utilises 10 times more pixels on the sensor.

The phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. And the box will contain a handset, Turbo charger, and wired headset.
