What is genetic nurture in biology?

July 24, 2018 12:15 am | Updated 12:15 am IST

This refers to the idea that the environment in which children grow up is influenced by the genes of their parents. So it is not simply the genes directly inherited from parents that influence child behaviour but also the family environment created by parents with certain genes. Thus, there may be no clear demarcation between whether it is the environment or genes (nature or nurture) that influences the behaviour of a human being. The idea was proposed by Augustine Kong and others in their 2018 paper “The nature of nurture”.
