Whiff of fresh air

The editorial “ >What’s in a name? A life ” (June 29) was a combination of courage and loyalty. Over recent years, politics and governance have plummeted even as corruption has increased exponentially. A proactive judiciary and a hyper electronic media have not helped in providing direction and stability. Indeed, the obsession of television news channels with “breaking news” distorts and stifles interest, and understanding of the news. I think they follow the dictum: “Tell a lie big enough and often enough and you’ll start believing it yourself.” The Hindu editorial came as a breath of fresh air.
