Tale of a river

October 20, 2015 02:35 am | Updated 02:35 am IST

This refers to the article “A river’s journey,” on the Thamirabarani river, in the Sunday Magazine (Oct.18). I originally come rom Ariyanayagipuram, a village some 20 kms from Tirunelveli, which was along the banks of the river. The article reminded me of my childhood days (I am just 65 now) when my grandfather would take me to the river every morning for a bath and prayers. The water was so pure and clear that one could see the pebbles at the bottom of the river. Thamirabarani was the main reason why we eagerly looked forward to our bi-annual vacation to the village.
