After reading the article “Have no doubt, smoking is dangerous” (Open Page, Sept. 1), I recollect an incident that happened in school in 1968. A classmate heavily under the influence of a friend started smoking daily. His father soon found out what was happening, and one day, came over to the school and summoned his son with the permission of the class teacher. He then handed him half a dozen cigarette packets and advised him not to borrow money from others or to buy cigarettes. The boy was shocked and stopped smoking the next day. It continues even to this day.
