>Arvind Kejriwal ’s statement that the media have been ‘sold out’ is condemnable and is bound to corrode his image. The media have not only served as a watchdog, highlighting various scandals involving governments from time to time, but also transformed Mr. Kejriwal himself from an ordinary man to a household name by giving him and his campaign so much coverage. It is high time Mr. Kejriwal got his facts right.

Arvind Kejriwal’s diatribe against the media deserves strong condemnation. His allegation that sections of the media had taken money to create a ‘Modi wave’ and his threat to send mediapersons to jail is nothing but evidence of a fascist mindset that accepts no dissent. In a way the media are also responsible for people like Mr. Kejriwal taking an arrogant line, as we see them highlighting both Mr. Modi’s so-called development model and the Aam Aadmi Party’s fortunes and misfortunes often. The lesson here for all media houses is to report truthfully and objectively at all times.
