Justice prevails

November 12, 2011 12:21 am | Updated 12:22 am IST

This refers to the report “First whiff of justice for Gujarat riot victims,” (Nov. 10) where the special court has convicted 31 people for the Sardarpura massacre of 2002, in which 33 Muslims were killed. It is hoped that in the other post-Godhra riots cases also the guilty will not escape the strong arms of law and justice. Inhuman acts deserve no mercy and there must be strong punishment. The verdict is definitely a milestone (editorial, Nov. 11).

It is perhaps the first case, post-Independence, where a large number of people have been convicted for communal violence. Now, will there be justice in the 1984 case as well?
