Dress code

July 06, 2012 12:34 am | Updated 12:34 am IST

The Jamaat-e-Islami has asked the Jammu & Kashmir government to impose a dress code on those visiting the Kashmir Valley, especially foreign tourists, saying they must desist from wearing dresses which are against the local culture and ethos. What to wear is a matter of personal choice. We cannot sit in judgment of the dresses others wear. Even Indian girls are seen in mini skirts, three-fourths and so on. It is for the parents/families of the girls, not the state, to tell them what to wear.
