With reference to “Tribute to students ... on Teachers' Day,” Open Page, Sept. 4.), my experience. When I was doing my M.S. and Ph.D. in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, from September 1966 to September 1971, I used to work long hours using an electron-probe microanalyser. Whenever I had a problem with the instrument, especially late at night, I never had to worry. My professor, Dr. Paul Weiblen, used to come over from his home, which was far away, to the lab to solve my problem.
