Afghan war exposed

July 29, 2010 11:41 pm | Updated 11:41 pm IST

The truth of America's acts of terror against innocent civilians in Afghanistan, carried out under the veil of secrecy, has been exposed, thanks to WikiLeaks (“Afghan war exposed,” July 29). The world community should no longer remain a mute spectator. It is its moral duty to defend the innocent from injustices and atrocities.

Gulzar-ul Islam,

Srinagar

The U.S. went to war in Iraq supposedly in search of weapons of mass destruction but found nothing. It went to war in Afghanistan to fight the Taliban but reached nowhere. It established close ties with Pakistan supposedly to help that nation fight the Taliban and the al-Qaeda but finds the ISI overtly and covertly aiding and abetting the very same groups. WikiLeaks has laid bare the unethical policies of America.

The exposé may be shocking to the rest of the world, not to India. For, India has proved and was aware of Pakistan's hand in all anti-India attacks. The lesson is: think twice before showing any interest in extending a hand of friendship to Pakistan.
