Like wine, she keeps getting better as the years go by. But actor-politician Hema Malini remains grounded. She claims the secret of her looks is a disciplined life, simple food and, most importantly, contentment. She feels today’s actors have it tough. “They diet to get that figure. They work really hard for that. We were who we were.” She rues the fact that today’s male actors are so short. “The six-foot hero concept has disappeared. The Punjab puttars like Shammi Kapoor and Dharmendra… where are they now?” She is happy that even at her age she has not had to “retire”. “I love being in the BJP, and being able to do something to help. It is challenging.” And the big screen? “I have to get a really good role first,” she laughed.
