>>Language evolves? : “Pooja politics” (Letters To The Editor column, Nov. 3, 2015) opened with a quote: “Power tempts to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Actually, John Acton had said tends ( >http://bit.ly/1eYhw17 ) not tempts, admitted the Edit Page Desk. But, a little leeway once in a while doesn’t hurt.

>>A sentence in “ >Cargo vehicle begins trial run on new Dhaka route ” (Nov. 2, 2015, some editions) erroneously said: “As Tripura and north-eastern States such as Meghalaya and Manipur share a long border with Bangladesh, cross-border movement of goods via Dhaka will be more cost effective and less time consuming.” It is actually Mizoram and not Manipur that shares a border (about 180 km) with Bangladesh.
