Chhattisgarh Assembly elections 2018: 70% turnout in phase one of polls

This is the first phase of Assembly elections in the State where 190 candidates are in the fray and as per electoral rolls, there are 31,80,014 voters. Voting began at 7 am in 10 out 18 constituencies, while in the remaining areas it is from 8 am to 5 pm.

IIP growth slips to 4.5% in September; retail inflation eases to 3.31% in October

Growth in industrial activity as measured by the Index of Industrial Production slowed marginally in September to 4.5% due to slowing growth in the manufacturing and capital goods sectors, official data released on Monday showed.

Explosion in front of high school rocks Kabul

Casualties are feared after a huge  explosion  rocked Kabul on Monday close to where scores of Afghans had been protesting against Taliban attacks on the minority Hazara ethnic group. The blast struck in front of a high school in the downtown area of the Afghan capital, the interior ministry said.

Delhi smog: NGT summons Chief Secretaries of 4 States over stubble burning

Stating that State governments had failed to curb stubble burning, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday summoned the Chief Secretaries of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and  Uttar Pradesh.  Officers have been directed to draw up a plan to execute the implementation of providing incentives to farmers.

Rafale deal: Centre hands over document on decision process to petitioners

The Centre on Monday complied with a Supreme Court order and handed over to petitioners, who sought a  court-monitored CBI probe  into the  procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets from France , the document detailing the decisions taken to procure the aircraft. The document titled “Details of the steps in the decision making process leading to the award of 36 Rafale fighter aircraft order” stated that the process as laid down in the Defence Procurement Procedure-2013 has been followed in procurement of the Rafale aircraft.

Ananth Kumar, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, passes away at 59

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, and Chemicals and Fertilizers H.N. Ananth Kumar, also a senior BJP leader from the State passed away at a private hospital in Bengaluru in the wee hours of Monday. He was 59.

Quad to meet next week in Singapore
