Over two children below five years of age would be administered vaccine during the Pulse Polio Immunisation camp to be held at 1,289 camps on January 28 in the district.
District Collector S. Prabhakar has said that Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine will organise 1,087 camps in rural areas and 202 camps in urban areas in which 5,234 people, from the health department, volunteers and from Rotary Associations will be participating to administer the vaccine.
A total of 97 government vehicles will be used for the camps, he added. He said that sufficient vaccine are stocked in cold storage units and asked the parents to come to the camps and administer the vaccine to their children between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
He said that special camps will also be held at bus stands, railway stations and mobile units will administer the vaccine to children whose parents are working at brick kiln units and other units.
