The DYFI on Wednesday picketed a Tasmac shop that was to open near the New Bus Stand here.

Officials unloaded liquor bottles from a lorry for the proposed shop number 7234.

DYFI activists reached the place and started picketing the shop.

They said that they had been organising protests against the Tasmac shop near Four Roads in vain. Now, officials have proposed to open another shop in front of the bus stand where people gather in large numbers. The protest was withdrawn after officials decided not to open the shop for the time being.

Villagers of Nakiyampatti too organised a protest demanding that the Tasmac shop in the area be closed. Though officials had promised to close the shop before June 1, it had not been done, they said. The villagers prevented the workers from opening the shop.
