Renowned cartoonist R.K. Laxman (88), undergoing treatment at the Breach Candy Hospital here, was shifted out of the Intensive Care Unit on Thursday, his daughter-in-law Usha Srinivas told The Hindu over telephone on Friday.

“He was moved out yesterday and is now in the normal ward. He is doing much better,” she said.

Ms. Srinivas said the doctors have begun speech therapy on Mr. Laxman and he is likely to stay at the hospital at least for the next two days.
