Activist Aruna Roy on Thursday questioned political parties for raising objections to the provision for setting up Lokayuktas in the Lokpal Bill when they did not oppose the move earlier.
“The sense of the House resolution adopted by Parliament clearly says that Lokayuktas should be set up in States through the Lokpal Bill. Nobody objected to this then. When it came to the Standing Committee, nobody objected.
“Also the ruling party, why did they not do proper floor management,” she asked.
She said the parties should realise that the country needed an anti-corruption mechanism.
