Russia has reportedly used hypersonic missiles in its war against Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin unveiled the Kinzhal air-launched hypersonic missile system on March 1. According to reports, these missiles destroyed a large underground warehouse containing Ukraine’s own missiles and other aviation ammunition.

Hypersonic weapons are manoeuvrable weapons that can fly travel faster than 5,000 kilometres per hour. The speed of a hypersonic weapon is at least Mach 5, which is five times the speed of sound.
