Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, his wife Pratibha Singh and others were on Monday granted bail by a Delhi court in a corruption case.
Additional Sessions Judge Virender Kumar Goyal granted bail to them and other accused on a bail bond of ₹1 lakh with one surety of a like amount.
The other accused granted bail were LIC agent Anand Chauhan, Tarini Infrastructure managing director Vakamulla Chandrashekhar, Universal Apples Associates (Himachal Pradesh) owner Chunni Lal Chauhan, Prem Raj, Lavan Kumar Roach, Ram Prakash Bhatia and Joginder Singh Ghalta. Taking cognisance of the charge sheet filed by the CBI in the case, the judge had summoned them on May 22. They had appeared and applied for bail.
The CBI opposed the bail applications of all the accused saying that they might influence witnesses and hamper the probe.
The CBI has accused Mr. Singh of amassing assets worth ₹10.30 crore between May 2009 and June 2012 when he was Union Steel Minister.
