Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi blamed Congress leaders during the Independence for allowing Kartarpur to be part of Pakistan, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused Mr. Modi of ‘questioning the wisdom of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’.

In a Facebook post, Mr. Gandhi said the Prime Minister was now questioning India’s first Home Minister by suggesting that Kartarpur went to Pakistan due to the lack of wisdom of the leaders of that time.

“What is in Prime Minister Modi’s mind has finally been said. By projecting himself as superior, Modiji wants to demand the stature of everyone including Gandhiji, Patel among other leaders,” the Congress chief said.

“Now the Prime Minister is raising questions about Sardar Patel as well by stating that lack of wisdom among leaders of that time allowed Kartarpur to go to Pakistan,” Mr. Gandhi said in his post.

Mr. Modi had alleged that Kartarpur went to Pakistan at the time of Independence because Congress leaders did not respect Sikh sentiments and did not have a vision.
