The para-medical, contract and outsourcing employees of MGM Hospital launched an indefinite strike here on Monday.

Under the aegis of Telangana United Medical and Health Employees’ Union, affiliated to Centre of Indian Trade Union, they served the strike notice to hospital management on June 11 demanding solution to a list of 15 demands.

Minimum wage, job security and provision of ESI and PF to the contract workers serving since 13 years at MGM Hospital are among the major demands.

They staged a demonstration rising slogans and sporting banners and placards.

Addressing the gathering, CITU city wing general secretary R. Ramesh said the union leaders have brought the plight of employees to the notice of public representatives, district administration and the hospital management, but nothing has happened so far.

The workers should be paid minimum wages as per the Government Order 3 and outsourcing employees should be recruited as per the provisions of GO 103, he demanded. Meanwhile, discussions by a delegation of the union with the hospital superintendent, Dr. K Manohar, failed to yield any result. Union leaders Md. Sardar, Santhosh, Md. Ansari, G. Vijay Kumar, Madhava Reddy and others were present.
