Warangal TDP district president election put off

May 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - WARANGAL:

The election of TDP’s district unit president was put off following divided opinion among the mandal level leaders.

The observers said they would take it to the notice of party leadership and decide later.

At the TDP district unit general body meeting held here to elect the new president, Gandra Satyanarayana from Bhupalpally constituency and Ega Mallesham from Wardhannapet Constituency strongly contended for the post of district TDP president. The observers Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy and S Venkata Veeraiah interacted with the leaders from various mandals and elicited their opinion on the issue.

Focus on constituency

Mulug former MLA D Sitakka who was said to be in the race made it clear that she would confine herself to the Constituency rather than accept the president’s post. Similarly, Revuri Prakash Reddy said he would focus more on his constituency and would not be able to give his time for now. Mr Gandra Satyanarayana said he had been associated with the party since inception and never got an opportunity. Due to alliance, he was denied party ticket from Bhupalpalli Assembly and in the last election too, he was forced to contest on BJP ticket. He was serving the party full time and should now be honoured with the district president post.

Similar claims

Mr Mallesham also made similar claims stating that he should be given an opportunity now. Though he was considered for the post last time, he had to make way for A Baswa Reddy and hence he should not get the post.

The TDP mini mahanadu would be held on May 26 here in Warangal where the new president is likely to be announced.

Meanwhile, senior leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao urged the party workers to strive to strengthen the party and it would come back to power in the next elections.

“People are already vexed with the ruling TRS party,” he said.
