Two new kennels will be constructed on the premises of district police headquarters here to house three new sniffer dogs, which are to be inducted into the district unit of sniffer dog squad soon.

Three new trained sniffer dogs have been sanctioned to the district to aid police in detection of explosive material and various crimes besides carrying out anti-sabotage checks.

The sniffer dog squad has five canines at present. The strength of the dog squad will go up to eight after the addition of the new ones.

The existing sniffer dogs are housed in four old kennels located inside the campus of the police headquarters.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Saikrishna formally launched the construction works here on Friday. He asked the officials of the Armed Reserve wing to ensure expeditious execution of construction works. DSP (Armed Reserve) P. Sanjeev and others were present.
