The city police on Sunday arrested two private money lenders, Yelamanchily Srirama Murthy and Dudala Rajesh, in the alleged call money-cum-sex scandal. Following a complaint by a woman victim with the Machavaram police, the two accused were taken into custody and five more involved in the racket have been identified.

The modus operandi of the accused is to offer loans to needy persons after obtaining promissory notes and blank cheques from them. Later, they would blackmail the victims and sexually exploit woman borrowers.

Police also seized some blank cheques in a raid, said DCP, Law and Order, L.K.V. Ranga Rao. Further investigation is on.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made enquires into the alleged call money-cum-sex scandal in which several private money lenders and political leaders were reportedly involved.

Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said the Chief Minister collected the details of the case from Home Minister Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa, Director General of Police J. V. Ramudu and other officials.

Home Minister Chinnarajappa directed the investigation officers to book the culprits irrespective of their status and not to spare anyone if they were involved in the case.

“Government has directed the police to conduct a fair and thorough probe into the scandal and arrest all the accused in the case. I request the victims to register their complaints either with Krishna District Collector Babu. A, or with City Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang,” the minister told the media.
