October 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - WARANGAL:

An assistant engineer of Telangana State Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSNPDCL) was caught red-handed by the ACB officials while receiving bribe from a farmer at his office here on Monday.

The accused engineer, named Srinivasa Rao, demanded Rs 20,000 bribe to replace a damaged transformer at Abbapur village in Mulug. The farmers at the village paid Rs.5,000 but the engineer insisted on the remaining amount to replace it.

Fed up with the engineer’s attitude, one farmer, Anne Kattaiah, approached the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) officials, who laid a trap and caught the engineer red-handed while he was taking Rs 15,000 from him.

ACB DSP R Saibaba and Circle Inspector Raghavendra Rao took part in the raid. The accused engineer was taken into custody and would be produced in ACB court in Hyderabad, they said. - Special Correspondent
