Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party has accused the State Government of totally “failing to control the spread of drug menace in the society and thereby making it the main hub for illicit drugs and narcotic substances”.
‘Ready to reveal names’
Party president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on Sunday, challenged the government to arrest those involved in the drugs racket and take effective steps to control drug sale and abuse. “I am ready to reveal the names of those involved in the racket. Will the government arrest them and make them undergo narco tests?,” he questioned.
Participating at a meeting at Shadnagar on Sunday, he told a gathering that the government was free to take action against any BJP leader “if found to be compliant in drug trade or consumption”. He declared, “Our party does not tolerate anyone involved in dealing with the contraband and illicit stuff.”
The Karimnagar MP charged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao with turning Telangana into a “drugs hub” and endangering the lives of young people. “The KCR government, instead of coming down heavily on drug menace, has not taken the earlier investigations to a logical conclusion due to selfish interests,” he claimed.
“KCR has been calling us all kinds of names when we question about his maladministration, problems of the people, farmers’ woes on paddy procurement and job notification, when his own administration has gone haywire. People should think if TS was formed for only one family to ride rough shed,” he said.
Second stage of yatra
The second stage of his ‘Praja Sangrama Yatra’ will begin on April 14, when he would once again “expose” the TRS government’s failures to people and seek their support to end the regime.
In a separate press conference, Yuva Morcha national executive member Solanki Srinivas blasted the government, police and enforcement agencies for making TS a “narcotics supermarket” and a “centre for drugs” with its “ineptitude to control the menace”.
“The TRS government owes an explanation to the people about the reason for whittling down the enquiry launched into the drug abuse and supply by bigwigs in the society. It appears to have succumbed to political pressures. Our party demands the government to act as per law and come down heavily on those involved,” he observed.
