The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party won the Warangal Lok Sabha seat in by-elections by defeating nearest rival Congress candidate by a margin of 4,59,092 votes after 22 rounds of counting here on Tuesday.
The TRS candidate Pusunoori Dayakar polled 6,15,403 votes against Congress candidate Sarvey Satyanarayana's 1,56,311 votes. The BJP-TDP combine candidate of the BJP Pagidipati Devaiah polled 1,30,178 out of the 10,34,840 votes polled.
The Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party-TDP combine were trailing behind in the second and third positions right from the first round and the victory margin was all-time high for the constituency and surpassed the margin with which Kadiyam Srihari had won in the 2014 general elections. With all the polled votes counted, the TRS has crossed its previous victory margin of 3,92,000.
The TRS candidate Pasunoori Dayakar said that the people are still with the TRS and believe in the capacity of the Government to deliver. He profusely thanked Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao in reposing faith in him and giving him a chance to contest. The Opposition failed to win over the faith of the people as they spread false propaganda.
The BJP candidate P. Devaiah accused the ruling party of distributing money and threatening people of withdrawing welfare schemes being offered to each voter. Congress leaders were not seen at the counting centres.
