TRS condemns bandh call

Says the party provided adequate seed, fertilizer and power supply to farmers

October 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - WARANGAL:

TRS leaders have condemned the bandh call given by Opposition parties in the State on October 10 and accused them of trying to gain political mileage.

TRS MLA B. Shankar Naik, district president T. Ravinder Rao, Gudimalla Ravi Kumar, K. Rajaiah Yadav and others said farmers were given enough seed and fertilizer. Our party also ensured adequate power supply , he said. Moreover, the government has already waived 50 per cent of farm loans and is planning to waive the rest soon.

“We oppose the bandh. We want to know what the TDP and Congress did for agricultural development in their tenure,” Mr. Ravinder Rao said.

The TRS leaders said all the parties had conspired to stall the Assembly session and block meaningful discussions.

The government was forced to call off the session and suspend all the MLAs.

“Is it not a fact that farmers were lathicharged for asking for seed and fertilizer under the Congress regime? Is it not a fact that farmers were shot dead by the police during the TDP regime when they asked for free power?” TRS leaders questioned.

Mr. Ravinder Rao said some Andhra forces were still trying to hinder the development of Telangana. It is unfortunate that TDP leaders have lost their scruples and are making unreasonable demands while supporting the Andhra government that did little for farmers.

“We appeal to people not to support the bandh and see the true colour of political parties and their secret agenda in view of the Warangal Parliament by-election,” the TRS leaders said.
