TRS, BJP-TDP likely to announce candidates today

October 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - WARANGAL:

Except the Congress, the BJP-TDP combine and ruling TRS party seem to have selected their candidates and may announce the names on Friday or Saturday.

The TRS leadership is reportedly favouring advocate JAC leader Gudimalla Ravi Kumar for Warangal Parliament by-election. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao seems to have favoured his candidature as he is young and vocal compared to other aspirants. Mr Ravi Kumar has been associated with the party since its inception and played a key role in all protests organised by the party.

Meanwhile, BJP would be fielding its candidate with the support of TDP. The NDA candidate is likely to be a senior doctor and NRI P Devaiah. Mr Devaiah has been trying to enter politics since a long time and tried for ticket from TDP and TRS in the past. The BJP was reportedly considering him as he could afford to spend money for the electioneering compared to other aspirants in the list. However local leaders wanted the party to field Jaipal, a former MLA who has good name and following among masses.

However, owing to his poor financial position, the party reportedly did not favour his candidature. Similarly, in Congress, the party is reportedly asking former MP G Vivek to fight the election as he could afford to bear the election expenditure.

The party might choose between him and former MP S Rajaiah who lost the election in last general elections to TRS candidate Kadiam Srihari.

The CPI and CPI (M) and other left parties already announced their candidate – a senior Law teacher of Osmania University Gali Vinod Kumar. They have already started touring mandals campaigning. The last date for filing nominations for the Warangal LS by-election is November 4.

‘Suspend Sudha Rani’

The district committee of Telugu Desam Party held an emergency meeting here on Thursday and passed a resolution asking the State leadership to take action against MP G Sudha Rani.

They want the party leadership to suspend her from party as she was planning to join the ruling TRS party.

The meeting was attended by Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Revuri Prakash Reddy, D Sitakka, Anisetti Murali and district president Gandra Satyanarayana Rao.

The leaders said party gave many opportunities to BCs and Sudha Rani was promoted much. It was unfortunate that she was not showing her loyalty to the party that helped her political career.
