Tributes paid to Sripada Rao

Rich tributes were paid to former Assembly Speaker D. Sripada Rao on the occasion of his 79th birth anniversary by organising various programmes in Karimnagar town on Wednesday.

Former Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar, TPCC SC cell State chairman Arepalli Mohan, Karimnagar Assembly constituency in-charge Chalmeda Laxminarasimha Rao, former ZP chairman A. Laxman Kumar, town Congress president Karra Rajashekhar and others garlanded the statue of Sripada Rao and paid floral tributes.

On this occasion, the Congress leaders fed the poor.

Earlier, the party leaders participated in the birth anniversary of Sripada Rao by garlanding his portrait at the Congress party office in the town.

They also participated in the distribution of fruits and sweets to the inmates of an orphanage.

The speakers recalled the services of Sripada Rao for the development of backward Manthani assembly segment and how he was assassinated by Maoists.
