A large number of Adivasis from Adilabad and bordering Maharashtra attended the official programme in connection with Gond leader Kumram Bheem’s 75th martyrdom anniversary at the remote Jodeghat village in Kerameri mandal in this district on Tuesday.
The Utnoor Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) made all arrangements, including meals and transportation, for the Adivasis and others coming to attend the programme.
The jal, jangal, jameen arches, as part of the development of the place in first phase, was inaugurated by IT and PR Minister K.T. Rama Rao, Tribal Welfare Minister A. Chandulal, Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna, and Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy. They also paid homage at the samadhi of the martyr besides offering floral tributes to his bust.
Earlier, the descendants of Kumram Bheem performed the traditional puja at the newly constructed samadhi . The programme also featured cultural programmes, including the famous Bison dance of Bhadrachalam.
All MLAs from the district, Collector M. Jagan Mohan, and ITDA Project Officer R.V. Karnan, were among those who paid homage at the martyr’s samadhi . The ITDA also set up stalls on progress achieved.
