In a tragic incident, Suryavamshi Datturam Patel, a 40-year-old farmer from Gundegaon in Bhainsa mandal of Adilabad district axed his 12-year-old son to death before committing suicide at around midnight on Saturday. According to police, Datturam had a quarrel with his wife and moved menacingly towards her armed with an axe when his son Maruti tried to intervene. He apparently got killed while trying to save his mother. Datturam too committed suicide subsequently by consuming pesticide. His wife, Kavita, 35, who was also injured in the incident has been shifted to Hyderabad.
Bhainsa DSP Ande Ramulu reached the spot and is supervising the investigation.
