Trading smooth in Adilabad

October 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - ADILABAD:

But for a bit of protest by farmers on the moisture content in cotton, trading ran smoothly on the second day since the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) began its minimum support price operations across the district.

While the CCI quotes Rs. 4,100 per quintal of cotton with 8 per cent moisture content, private traders offered Rs. 4,230 at the same terms.

It was however, evident that farmers were circumspect about the price as the arrivals were slow in the first half of the day. There was some movement of lorries, tractors and pick up autos towards afternoon but the total arrivals remained below the expected quantum.
