A joint team comprising Bhadrachalam sub-division police personnel and the CRPF arrested four alleged CPI (Maoist) militia members and a dalam member in a forest area in Charla mandal in the early hours of Monday. Among those arrested were three juveniles aged 17 years. All of them hail from three tribal habitations in Charla mandal in Bhadrachalam division. A team of police and CRPF personnel launched a combing operation in the Chennapuram forests in the early hours of the day. The arrested include Badisa Ungaiah, 23 and Madakam Ganga, 25, besides three 17-year-old youths.

They were allegedly involved in several cases of “Maoist violence” including murders, arson and planting of explosives in the forest area under Venkatapuram circle limits, police added.
