The Telangana government has lined up a slew of programmes to coincide with the third anniversary of formation of the State, starting with the ceremonial parade to be reviewed by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at the Parade Grounds here on Friday.
Mr. Rao will unfurl the national flag and present cash awards of ₹One lakh to 52 eminent persons from different fields at the hour-long programme which will also be addressed by him. A police band and cultural contingent from Haryana will be the special attraction as Telangana government has tied up with that State as part of `Ek Bharat - Shresht Bharat’ programme.
In tune with its decision to promote communal harmony, the government has arranged programmes by Christian, Sikh, Punjabi and Parsi artistes at Hari Hara Kala Bhavan and Wesley College grounds in the evening.
The government has also focussed on its traditional arts, arranging a dance ballet on rulers of Kakatiya dynasty led by Rudrama Devi on Friday evening.
Another dance ballet on temples of Telangana and the Perni dance depicting the preparation of soldiers before they went to war will be on display at Ravindra Bharati.
Kavi Sammelan, Qawwali, Sufi music, Mushaira and Ghazals were the other programmes at Ravindra Bharati on the concluding day on Sunday. Batik paintings by an artist Y. Prakash on the reflections of Telangana will be open to public at Kala Bhavan till Sunday.
There will be food festival at People’s Plaza in the evenings on all three days. Cultural programmes by artistes of Haryana and Telangana will be held at the same venue as part of the food festival. Screening of films “Nizam Sarkaroda”, “Pelli Choopulu” and “Indian Postman” will be other highlights.
The formation day celebrations will also be held in all remaining 30 districts where the Ministers will participate on Friday.
